Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev will hand in the first exploratory mandate for establishment of a new government within the current parliament. The mandate will be given to the biggest political party – the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (CEDB).
In accordance with the constitutional authorities of the Bulgarian Head of State under Article 99, Paragraph 1 of the Constitution, President Rosen Plevneliev started consultations with the parliamentary represented parties within the 43rd National Assembly in connection with the resignation of the government headed by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
After the consultations were over Mr Plevneliev proceeds with the next constitutional procedure and will hand exploratory mandates to up to three parties in an attempt to form a new government within the current parliament. The first mandate is handed to the biggest parliamentary group, the second – to the second-biggest parliamentary group, while the third one – to a parliamentary group at President’s choice.
If none of the mandates is realised a procedure on calling snap parliamentary elections will be started.
Before the exploratory mandates President Plevneliev summoned a sitting of the Consultative Council on National Security to discuss the political situation with all parliamentary represented parties together.
