BEIRUT, LEBANON – The British Air Force has withdrawn half of its warplanes from both Syria and Iraq this week, the UK military chiefs announced on Monday, as reported by the Daily Mail.

According to the UK military chiefs, eight Royal Air Force Tornados will be withdrawn from Syria and Iraq next month; this will reduce their total number of warplanes from 14 to six in the region.

The move follows Donald Trump’s shock announcement to withdraw US troops from the war-ravaged region.

However, the British military will leave at least a half dozen warplanes to strike the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) forces when needed, along with the Syrian government if they are accused of using chemical weapons.

Eight RAF Tornados, pair of F3’s taking off from RAF Leuchars pictured, will be brought home next month, reducing the number of jets fighting Islamic State from 14 to six.

Six RAF Typhoon fighter jets and up to ten Reaper drones will remain in the Middle East.

A senior defense source said: “This in no way weakens our resolve to carry out missions against the deplorable regime.”
