A meeting of the Azerbaijani, Russian and Armenian foreign ministers will be held in Moscow on April 28 in accordance with the agreements reached earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing Apr. 27.

"The co-chairmen of the OSCE Minsk Group and Andrzej Kasprzyk, OSCE chairperson-in-office personal representative will also join the ministers," she said.

“The positions of the sides of the conflict on the problematic aspects are expected to be clarified during the discussions,” Zakharova said, adding that the further actions in the peaceful settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict are also expected to be determined.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts. The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
