Trend News Agency (10 October 2019)

Azerbaijan and Turkey are preparing a draft agreement on preferential trade, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Economy Minister Niyazi Safarov told reporters in Baku, Trend reports.

The deputy minister said that such an agreement has already been concluded between Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and Turkey. According to the agreement, products from the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic will be delivered to Turkey on favorable terms, Safarov noted.

The deputy minister added that due to the blockade of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the region’s economy is slightly different from Azerbaijan’s general economy.

“In this regard, the new agreement envisages own peculiarities,” Safarov said.
