ASEAN COMMITTEE RATIFIES SUPPORT FOR REUNIFICATION OF KOREA

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) ratified on Thursday its support and solidarity for the reunification of Korea.
This was expressed by the representative of the ASEAN committee in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the Laotian ambassador, Phonekham Inthaboualy, before the chairman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, Ri Son Gwon, who received him in the Palace of Congresses Mansudae.

The meeting was attended by diplomatic representatives accredited here from Indonesia, Vietnam, and Cambodia, member countries of ASEAN.

During the meeting, Ri Son Gwon stressed that the Chairman of the State Committee of the DPRK, Kim Jong Un, is carrying out dynamic and timely actions in favor of the reunification of the Korean nation.

He recalled the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation between the DPRK and the member countries of the ASEAN committee in Pyongyang.

ASEAN, based in Jakarta, Indonesia, is a regional organization of states created on August 8, 1967, and is also composed of Malaysia, Brunei, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines. Its objectives include accelerating the economic growth of the bloc's countries and promoting regional peace and stability.
