On July 24, Armenian Foreign Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, now on an official trip to Georgia, met with representatives of the Armenian community at the Hayartun center of the Armenian Apostolic Church Diocese in Tbilisi.
Expressing thanks for warm reception, Mnatsakanyan, according to an Armenian government statement, summed up his meetings with Georgian officials and reaffirmed Armenia's willingness to further strengthen the brotherly relations with Georgia through centuries.
In his address, the Mnatsakanyan noted that though Armenia and Georgia face different problems in the region, the two countries are united on the common interests of regional peace and security and the creation of an environment conducive to the welfare of their peoples.
Mnatsakanyan praised the role the Georgian-Armenian community has played in strengthening the friendship between the two countries, the two peoples, and the promotion of a bilateral agenda.
"It is very important that you, as citizens of Georgia, participate in Georgia's social life, Georgia's well-being and development. These are also the roots of your identity. You are also an important bridge between our two peoples and states, contributing to deepening and strengthening bilateral relations. We all know that we face many challenges as a community. But in my opinion, the peculiarity of our communities and, in particular, this community, is that it's not just a group of people that can gather a couple of times a year for drinking coffee, but the Armenian community's ability to express itself in its institutional arrangement. We have different ways of expressing our identity in institutional terms. "
At the end of the meeting, Minister Mnatsakanyan answered numerous questions of the representatives of the Armenian community of Georgia and exchanged views on the issues of the Georgian-Armenian community.
Before meeting with the Armenian community members of Georgia, Mnatsakanyan visited the Holy Etchmiadzin Church in Tbilisi.
