Yerevan court of general jurisdiction has denied the motion Armenian Special Investigation Service filed to take former Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Armen Gevorgyan into custody for two months.

“I believe a truly fair decision has been made. However, this does not mean it is all over. We will submit more evidence of my innocence,” Gevoryan told the journalists after the court session.

He was charged with obstruction of justice in August 2018 in connection with the Special Investigation Service’s criminal case regarding the events that took place in Yerevan on March 1-2, 2008.

At the moment, Armen Gevorgyan is facing new charges: complicity in overthrowing of constitutional order, acceptance of a bribe of especially large amount and legitimization of illegally obtained funds through money laundering.
