There is a shortage of highly qualified personnel in the command staff of the Armenian army, said Nikolai Bordyuzha, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

He told the aforesaid in his response to the question of an Armenian journalist “Why did the number of Armenian military studying in Russia increase in the past year?” at a press conference Sept. 6, APA’s Moscow correspondent reported.

The increase in the number of Armenian servicemen studying in Russia, as well as in Belarus, a CSTO country, stems from the Armenian army’s needs, Bordyuzha stressed.  

There is stable, but quite difficult situation in the Caucasus, he said.

CSTO supports a peaceful solution to all conflicts, including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the secretary general noted. “We stand ready to help solve this and other conflicts by political means,” he said.

Bordyuzha emphasized that CSTO doesn’t intervene in resolution of conflicts, including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
