On November 21, 2017, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan participated in the opening ceremony of a military school named after ASALA terrorist Monte Melkonian in Dilijan.

Armenian news sources mentioned that the opening ceremony was dedicated to Monte Melkonian, the national hero of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh under the Armenian occupation.

After receiving the report of the Deputy Director of the Military Unit and listening to the speeches, the Minister of Defense, along with the members of the National Security Council and guests, spectated the ceremonial march of the Educational Complex students. Monte Melkonian’s monument’s opening ceremony was held in the premises of the college. The “honor” of the opening was given to Martiros Zhamkochyan, a friend of the terrorist Melkonian, and Vahagn Asatryan, graduate of the college.
