On March 12, 2024, a workshop titled "Water Security in the Euphrates-Tigris Basin and the European Union Water Framework Directive" was organized by the Ankara University European Communities Research and Application Center (ATAUM), the Center for Eurasian Studies (AVİM), and the Hydropolitics Association. The event took place at the ATAUM Board of Directors Hall.

The workshop opened with remarks from AVİM Advisor, Retired Ambassador Yiğit Alpogan. Presentations were then given by AVİM Analyst Gülperi Güngör, Hydropolitics Association Chairman Dursun Yıldız, and Professor Dr. Çınar Özen, Faculty Member of the Department of International Relations at Ankara University's Faculty of Political Sciences.

During the interactive session, officials from state institutions, academics, diplomats, and other experts in the field discussed the challenges of water security in the Euphrates-Tigris Basin, potential solutions, and the relevance of the European Union acquis.

The event concluded with a closing speech by AVİM Director, Retired Ambassador Alev Kılıç.
