On 22 February 2024, AVİM and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Türkiye (KAS Türkiye) jointly organized a day-long conference titled “EU-Türkiye Cooperation in Central Asia and South Caucasus: Towards Sustainable Engagement in Energy and Connectivity.”

After the opening speeches of the directors of AVİM and KAS Türkiye, EU Special Representative (EUSR) for Central Asia Ambassador Terhi Hakala and the Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Dr. Ömer Kocaman delivered keynote speeches. These were followed by the first panel discussion on energy.

In the second half of the conference, Armenian-American Historian and Diplomat Prof. Gerard Libaridian; Chief Political Analyst of the Azerbaijani Caliber News Media Outlet Orkhan Amashov; Former Member of German Bundestag and the former Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Dr. Andreas Nick; and the Head of the Regional Programme Political Dialogue South Caucasus of KAS Stephan Malerius delivered keynote speeches. Next, the second panel discussion on connectivity took place.

The conference was concluded by Centre for Applied Türkiye Studies Associate Dr. Daria Isachenko’s summary of the discussions during the conference.

The conference was attended by more than 120 participants from the bureaucracy, diplomatic corps in Ankara, media, academia, and think tank sector.

The Embassy of Finland in Ankara organized a reception in the name of the 100th year of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Finland for the participants after the event.
