On 13 December, AVİM organized a conference titled “Bitlis’te Bir Amerikan Misyoner Aile ve Soykırım İddialarına Etkileri” (En. “An American Missionary Family in Bitlis and their Effects on Genocide Allegations) with Prof. Dr. Haluk Selvi as the guest speaker.
In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Haluk Selvi evaluated the development process of the Armenian Question in the Ottoman Empire between the years 1860-1916 and shared with the audience his research findings on the role played by American missionary George Knapp and his children within the genocide allegations and the propaganda carried out abroad about these allegations. In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Selvi highlighted that Grace Knapp in her writings mentioned that Armenians of Bitlis carried various activities to make it easier for Russian forces to occupy Bitlis and drew attention to the importance of this in terms of the nature of the disputes regarding the 1915 events.
