The Yerevan City Council voted 35 to 11 with one abstention to adopt a decision holding snap elections on July 16.

The Council voted 15 to 35 with one abstention to turn down a proposal by the Yelk faction to elect the new Mayor on August 8.

Taron Margaryan quit as Yerevan Mayor on July 9.
