The head of the Iranian Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR) said Baku and Tehran are willing to enhance bilateral relations in various fields, including medical education and research.

“Given the existing good relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, we are exploring business opportunities here and [in the meetings] discussed ways for joint production of products needed by both Azerbaijan and CIS countries,” Seyed Hamid Reza Tayyebi, who is currently in Baku, told Trend on May 30.

Heading a delegation, Tayyebi is in the Azerbaijani capital to attend the 25th International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition and Conference underway in Baku.

The Iranian official added that he may also sit down with Azerbaijani officials to study how Tehran and Baku can mutually cooperate on medical education and research.

“Mutual cooperation on breast cancer, woman infertility, cell sciences and cell therapy is also on the agenda,” he said.

“Yesterday, we held talks with Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and briefed on capabilities in the sector of power,” Tayyebi said.

“Today, we also held a meeting with Rovnag Abdullayev, the head of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR),” he said.

We can help them revive and preserve the environment, Tayyebi said.

“Tomorrow, we will meet with the Azerbaijani health minister”.

About the future of Tehran-Baku ties, the Iranian official said, “Since long time ago, we have been seeking to forge closer ties with Azerbaijan. I am optimistic that there is a good opportunity for joint cooperation between the two sides as the presidents of the two countries are favor the continuation of cooperation”.
