Poland’s European Affairs Minister Konrad Szymański was questioned on Tuesday by EU ministers over the procedure of Article 7 of the EU Treaty launched against Poland in 2017.

Rule of Law Commissioner Vera Jourova said that since the last presentation of the situation of the rule of law in Poland in September 2020, “most of the serious problems raised have not been resolved, and in the meantime, new ones have emerged.”

Dutch Foreign Minister Sigrid Kaag inquired about Poland’s enforcement of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) judgments. There were also questions regarding the application of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to the Polish Constitutional Tribunal regarding the superiority of EU law over national law.
