Security threats have not been detected at the Warsaw Modlin Airport some 25 miles from Poland's capital following an emergency evacuation, the airport's spokesperson said on Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Late on Sunday, Polish media reported that all passengers had been evacuated from the airport due to what may have been a suspicious unattended baggage. Reasons for the evacuation have not been confirmed.

"Checks did not reveal any threats. Evacuation @WMI_Airport completed. Operations at the airport will be returned to normal," spokeswoman Magdalena Bojarska said in her Twitter account.

Flights from Dublin, Shannon, Bergamo and Gdansk were redirected to the Warsaw Chopin Airport as a result of the emergency.

The incident comes less than a week after two suicide blasts ripped through the Brussels Airport departure hall in the northeastern municipality of Zaventem on March 22. A further explosion occurred at the Maelbeek station near EU institutions. A total of 31 people, including 3 suicide bombers, died in the attacks. More than 300 were injured.
