AKIPRESS (30 November 2022)

President Kassym-Joomart Tokayev will carefully review the idea of a "triple gas union" between Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan, which was proposed during the talks in Kremlin. The decision on the actual creation of a union has not yet been made, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Vasilenko said.

The diplomat noted that the establishment of a "gas union" with Russia should not create any difficulties for Kazakhstan and let the country directly or indirectly take part in bypassing anti-Russian sanctions related to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

"Kazakhstan does not allow its territory to be used to circumvent sanctions. We created a commission in the government, which prevents the negative impact of the situation on the economy of Kazakhstan," Roman Vasilenko emphasized.
