The President of the Iraqi Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed on Wednesday the necessity of implementing the recommendations of the Climate Summit and the Paris Conference, while pointing to the importance of unifying international efforts and working to achieve a ceasefire to preserve the security of the region.

The Presidency of the Republic said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid met with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, as part of his participation in the United Nations Climate Summit (COP29) held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku."

He added that "the meeting discussed developments in the international situation, especially the attacks on the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples that have claimed the lives of thousands of civilians."
