Turkmen lawmakers in the Iraqi Parliament yesterday warned that the city of Kirkuk is undergoing demographic change.

The head of the Turkmen Front, Arshad Salhi, said during a press conference that the movement’s representatives have met with the parliament’s legal committee in the presence of the ministry of municipalities and public works to solve the housing crisis.

Salhi explained that Article 23 of the Constitution stipulates that infringing on public and private property for demographic change is rejected.

“Infringements continue by the political parties who do not live in Kirkuk,” he said, adding that “commercial and housing plots were distributed illegally to political parties” to change the city’s demography.
