Iraq has been named one of China’s top 20 trading partners for 2024, with a total trade volume reaching approximately $54.2 billion, according to a recent report from S&P Global. The finding underscores the growing economic ties between the two countries.

Data from the report showed that China’s exports to Iraq were valued at around $38.2 billion, while its imports from Iraq totaled approximately $16 billion. This significant imbalance positions China as one of Iraq’s most prominent trading partners.

The report further highlighted the scale of this partnership, noting that the total trade volume between the two nations accounts for 20.5% of Iraq’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This metric reflects a heightened reliance on China as both a market and a key supplier of goods and services.
