The issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States were discussed on November 9 at a meeting of President Ilham Aliyev with the commander of the US Transportation Command, General Stephen Lyons.

In particular, the issues of Azerbaijan"s participation in supporting the international peacekeeping operation in Afghanistan, logistic support of NATO forces in that country, as well as assistance to the governmental structures of Afghanistan from official Baku were touched upon.

In turn, Stephen Lyons noted that relations between the United States and Azerbaijan are of great importance in the light of the transport support of international peacekeeping forces in Afghanistan.
