Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu called Croatian PM Plenković and asked for help.

The Croatian government held an emergency session on Wednesday evening and adopted a decision to help Israel in extinguishing wildfires and approve the use of two aircraft Canadair CL-415 of the Croatian Air Forces, announced the government, reports Jutarnji List on November 24, 2016.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and asked for air support in extinguishing wildfires, which affect the areas of northern and central Israel, announced the government’s Office for Public Relations on Wednesday evening.

The government, on the proposal made by Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević, subject to the approval of Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, adopted the decision to use the Armed Forces to provide humanitarian assistance to Israel in extinguishing the wildfires, and approved the decision which allows Croatian Armed forces to cross the state border.

Israel on Wednesday asked the Croatian and Greek governments to send the planes to help in the fight against wildfires which have plagued the country in the last few days, announced the Office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

On Thursday morning, Croatian Prime Minister Plenković confirmed at a cabinet session that he spoke by phone with Netanyahu on Wednesday afternoon and that the government immediately held a telephone session to approve the request. He added that the two planes had already left the Zemunik Air Base near Zadar, where they are usually located, and were already on their way to Israel.
