BBC (20 November 2017)

Theresa May is to hold an "inner cabinet" meeting in a bid to make progress on stalled EU negotiations.

The agenda will include the issue of the Brexit divorce bill, which the EU says must be resolved before it will discuss a trade agreement with the UK.

Downing Street has refuted claims that the UK plans to double its initial offer to the EU of £38bn.

EU Council President Donald Tusk has given Mrs May a deadline of early December to increase the UK's offer.

Mr Tusk said the issue of the Irish border also needed to be settled before negotiators could move onto the next phase of Brexit talks, covering the UK's future relations with the EU.
