Armen Sargsyan, presidential candidate nominated by the ruling Republican Party of Armenia is set to meet with Serzh Sagsyan, Armenian president, again, Eduard Sharmazanov, vice-speaker of the National Assembly and a member of the party’s executive board, said Thursday after the party’s session.  

On January 19, 2018, Armen Sargsyan was nominated by the ruling party as presidential candidate. The nominee asked Serzh Sargsyan to give him time for meeting with the country’s political forces either inside the parliament or outside it. 

Sharmazanov said that Armen Sargsyan has already told journalists that he will release his decision to public when time comes. 

“As I know, meetings with all political forces are not over yet,” Sharmazanov said adding that upon completion the nominee will meet with the ruling party leader, Serzh Sargsyan and this meeting “will be important and decisive”.   

He refrained from mentioning particular dates. 

”Our opinion is known – we think that Armen Sargsyan is that very statesman and politician who is able to assume to their full extent the commitments which, according to the amended Armenian Constitution, the fourth president of the country has to assume,” Sharamazanov said.
