NOWRUZ FESTIVAL CELEBRATED IN IRAQ
21.03.2018
TRT World (21 March 2018)
The explosions that echo through the mountains of Akre in Iraq herald a celebration, not a fight, as it's Nowruz, the ancient new year.
The festival is thousands of years old, marked by the exact moment of the spring equinox.
It literally means "new day" and is celebrated by millions of people across the world.
TRT World's Soraya Lennie reports on the celebrations from Iraq.
