Parliament of Kosovo will hold convene today (07.04) in a solemn session where the elected president, Hashim Thaci will take his oath.

Meanwhile, on Friday, 8 April, in Skanderbeg square, this is near the parliament and government of Kosovo, a ceremony will take place for the inauguration of the new president.

Adian Arifaj, advisor to the elected president, Thaci says that present in the inauguration ceremony will be representatives of different institutions of the country and guests from a number of countries.

Arifaj said that the inauguration of the new president is a state ceremony and the opposition is also invited there.

On the other hand, the largest opposition party, Self Determination declared that it will not participate in the April 7 parliamentary session.

“As opposition we have decided not to go to parliament, while as Self Determination we will return there only when there are important decisions such as the voting of the status of Zajednica (a term used about the Association of Serb majority communes) or if there is any attempts to ratify the demarcation with Montenegro”, Self Determination declared.

The same stance has also been expressed by the other two opposition parties, AAK and Incentive for Kosovo.

Meanwhile, the election of Hashim Thaci as the new president of Kosovo has been contested by opposition parties in parliament and in street protests.
