Daryo (11 February 2025)

Authorities in Uzbekistan have intercepted an illegal shipment of diesel fuel worth UZS 1.3bn ($100,116) smuggled from Turkmenistan, according to a report by Uzenergoinspection.

The violation was uncovered during a joint inspection conducted by Uzenergoinspection and the Bukhara Regional Department of the Customs Committee. The shipment, weighing 115 tons, was falsely declared as "Bitumnaya mastika" (bituminous mastic) in customs documents while attempting to cross through the "Olot" border checkpoint in Bukhara region.

Following a chemical analysis by Uzenergoinspection's laboratory, it was confirmed that the cargo was, in fact, diesel fuel. Authorities have seized the shipment and initiated legal proceedings.
