RUSSIA: READY TO REPATRIATE CITIZENS ACCUSED OF TERRORISM FROM IRAQI PRISONS

The Russian government announced on Wednesday its readiness to repatriate its citizens accused of terrorism and detained in Iraqi prisons.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Moscow, Abdul Karim Hashim Mustafa, met with the Russian Minister of State and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Igor Nikolayevich Zubov, at the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs headquarters, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

During the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed, particularly cooperation between the two countries' interior ministries. The Ambassador conveyed the Iraqi government's invitation to the Russian government “to repatriate its citizens who are members of the Daesh terrorist organization and are being held in Iraqi prisons, given the Iraqi government's intention to return them to their countries of origin to ensure the sustainability of regional and international security and stability."
