Diplomatic sources say a train believed to be carrying a high-ranking North Korean official arrived in Beijing on Monday. The sources speculate the visiting official may be North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, or his sister, Kim Yo Jong. A photo posted on Weibo, China's version of Twitter, showed a dark green carriage with a yellow stripe. The picture was purportedly taken in Beijing. Footage of a similar train also went viral, with online messages pointing out that the design resembles that of North Korean trains. Security in central Beijing was tightened Monday night. Police motorcycles were seen escorting a convoy of around 10 black cars from the Great Hall of the People to the state guest house in Beijing.

Both Chinese and North Korean state-run media remain silent over the possible visit. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said she was unaware of the situation. Kim has not visited a foreign country since he became North Korea's leader.
