The European Union is closely following the events in the north of Kosovo, especially those relating to the visits of Serb politicians ahead of the presidential elections which will be held on Sunday.

The EU spokesperson, Maja Kocijancic has declared that they welcome such visits which are scheduled based on the agreements reached as part of the talks for the normalization of relations.

“We’re sorry to see that visits scheduled based on these agreements, are not taking place. We have received news that roads have been blocked and individuals have been prevented to participate in rallies held in the north of Kosovo. The EU demands authorities in Kosovo to enable people to participate in these rallies”, Kocijancic said.

Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, who is also a presidential candidate, had scheduled a visit to Leposavic today. But he has cancelled his visit, as the government of Kosovo had imposed several conditions for this visit.
